CREATIVE DVD

From 1910-1915 Lyman Stewart bankrolled the sending of a group of books called “The Fundamentals” to people all over the world. The contributors to that book have in many cases fallen into obscurity. In order to remedy that, Jim Lutzweiler has produced a DVD (also available on flash drive) containing forty biographies of those who contributed to “The Fundamentals.”

Jim’s interest in fundamentalism began when he was quite young. His father was a fundamentalist Baptist preacher, and the work is dedicated to him. Before his salvation he played the marimba in vaudeville. His father’s story was featured on the radio broadcast Unshackled in 1953 and that story is also part of the DVD. The project got underway when he served as archivist at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Forty sketches of contributors to “The Fundamentals” are presently included on the DVD. There are a total of seventy-seven people who either wrote essays or worked on the committee to produce the materials. Jim continues to write those sketches, along with other individuals who are contributing to the collection as well. “My plans for the rest are to continue working on the project until I pass,” says Jim.

“The subject is still quite relevant,” Jim writes. “The tern continues to be misused in the press and on popular television programs. So my purpose is not only for Christians to understand their heritage, but also for those who only have an intellectual interest in the topic.

The DVD can be ordered from Jim at stjimbow@gmail.com.
