What do you call someone whose grandfather was a brother to your mother? I recently met Karl Pasche who is related to me in that way, but more importantly, is a brother in Christ.

Karl and his wife were serving as missionaries in Thailand and expecting their second child when a routine checkup resulted in a diagnosis of spina bifida. The doctor recommended abortion because all spina bifida cases in Thailand are aborted. Instead, the Pasches returned to Minnesota where surgery was performed in the uterus.

Their son is now a year old, and though he has medical issues, they plan to return to their work in Thailand. They have been in contact with the doctor there. She wants to meet their son and explore the possibility of developing at her hospital some of the medical techniques which made possible the saving of his life.

In turn, Karl desires to share with her, and many others, the story of another Son, the Son of God, who makes possible eternal salvation.

Pasches will be visiting Thailand this summer to determine if the medical support for their son will be available. While in Minnesota they have continued to be involved in missions in association with North Central University. But their desire is to return to the field and continue the work to which God has called them.
