CREATIVE ARRANGING
Sometimes life brings surprises.
I have listened to the Barclay Brass on You Tube,
enjoying tremendously such features as the video produced by TIME magazine and the
Smithsonian to commemorate the 50th anniversary of “2001 A Space Odyssey.”

The Barclay Brass is an ensemble comprised of some of the
top brass musicians from Washington, D.C. They have played for everyone from
the Pope to the President. Their members perform with military bands and are in
demand as freelancers across the country. For more than a decade they have performed
a wide variety of classical music arranged specifically for brass instruments.
The
surprise life brought to me was when I learned that many of the arrangements
for the Barclay Brass were written by the son of my cousin Becky Miller and her
husband Carroll. David Miller’s arrangements
have been performed and recorded by The US Marine Band
“President’s Own,” The US Air Force
Ceremonial Brass, The US Army Band “Pershing’s Own,”
The US Naval Academy Band, and The US Navy
Band Concert and Ceremonial Bands. He is
internationally published by Hal Leonard,
Edition Peters, Baton Music, and
Serenissima Music. He
self-publishes at www.SterlingMusicEditions.com.
Do yourself a favor.
Go to YouTube and look up the Barclay Brass. The arrangements will thrill you
as you listen to one of the premier brass ensembles in the nation.
