CREATIVE COMFORT

“The Lord is my shepherd.”

How many times have the words of Psalm 23 become the comfort needed when we face those challenges where we learn to trust and “fear no evil”?

One of our greatest fears as parents is often concern for our children, even more than for ourselves. Steve and Kay Leeman faced that fear in 2011. They received a phone call from their son-in-law informing them that their daughter Ursula was in the hospital in Denver. She suffered from blood clots in her lungs.

Catching an immediate flight they arrived before midnight, finding her surrounded by machines which breathed on her behalf. A night of prayer and recalling God’s promises brought comfort as she began the road to recovery.

A year later, Steve took a watercolor class. With thanksgiving in his heart, he completed the nine watercolor paintings included in his “Psalm 23 for Little Lambs.” He did not intend it for general consumption. Instead he made copies for friends and family in order to share with others the creative comfort which God provides through His word.
