“Originally I set it up for helping those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia,” writes Paul Odens. “The old shows brought back memories and smiles.” Paul has a large collection of radio shows and music from the 1920s to the 1950s. The shows are kept on digital media and the station runs off computer station broadcast software.

On holiday’s the station features show specials. This last Halloween weekend it played the “War of the Worlds” episode which caused such a stir back in 1938.  Other historic clips such as speeches from President Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchhill, bombing raids over London and the Hindenburg disaster are shared. Music from back in the day along with shows by Arthur Godfrey and John Charles Daly are available.

Odens has been running “Best of Times Radio” for fourteen years. He hopes to enlarge the regular schedule even more as he approaches retirement. He plans to keep on collecting shows, adding to the 300 78 rpm records he already has on hand and providing content which will be interesting to all listeners.
