CREATIVE RETIREMENT VILLAGE

Two hundred and fifteen acres in central Florida. A golf course, mini-golf, disc golf, shuffleboard, horseshoes, a picnic pavilion, fishing in three lakes, and an Olympic-size swimming pool. Sounds like a great place to retire.

Maranatha Village has been incorporated since 1973 with one hundred and thirty-nine duplexes, a one-hundred unit mobile home park, an assisted living facility and an RV park. Everyone coming to the Village for more than a month signs a doctrinal statement of principles and practices. Residents purchase a life-lease according to the size of the unit.

Gerry Carlson, former president of Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, serves on the administrative team. He and his wife have been at Maranatha Village since 2014. An Independent Baptist Church on the grounds is pastored by Daryl Jeffers, a graduate of Central Baptist Seminary of Minneapolis. They hold three Bible Conferences and three musical concerts each year. Chapel services are held Monday through Friday.

The Village is ready to launch a fund-raising effort to mark its 50th Anniversary. The plan is to build a Legacy Center housing a fitness room, craft room, and fellowship porch overlooking the lake.

Dr. Carlson, who graciously provided me with this information, writes “Maranatha Village has truly been blessed of the Lord.”
