CREATIVE ADOPTION

Eleven-year-old Susan Carter was one of hundreds of foster children in the metropolis of Toronto, Canada. God worked a miracle for her and her siblings, keeping them together and giving them Christian parents. She tells the exciting story in her new book Five Tickets to Kansas.

As missionaries, she and her husband have told their stories many times. Child Evangelism Fellowship turned it into an illustrated children’s packet with pictures, a memory verse, and coloring pages for each lesson. The Pacific Garden Mission Unshackled Radio Theater featured a two-part story in 2016.

Susan says, “I wrote the story to give hope to those suffering from brokenness, showing them there is victory, forgiveness, and reconciliation on many levels through the healing power of Christ.” She used letters from her birth parents and birth grandparents, original birth certificates and newspaper clippings in recounting the amazing journey.
