CREATIVE FUTURE FAMILY TREE

 


Today I want to share with you a plan for preparing a future family tree. The one I am working on I have called “Prayers for the Future: Allen Family” 2026-2126.

The idea comes from one of my books called Dare To Walk On Water: Treasuring God. This DARE is one of more than eighty in the book. Each DARE provides a practical and action-oriented way in which you can put into practice Biblical truth about God Almighty.

Here is the DARE from chapter 41, The God Who Is Enough.

DARE to commit the future of your family to the God who is Enough. Write out a 100 year “hope” for your children and later descendants. Plan the godly future you would like to have them experience. Ask God to give your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren godly spouses. Ask Him to be preparing right now the parents of those who will one day marry your descendants so that those parents will raise the future spouses in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Outline the education you would like your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to receive. Ask God to prepare spiritual mentors, godly teachers, and strong Christian institutions which will be in place when those from your family begin school and go all the way through graduate degrees. Make your plans as specific as possible, committing all the plans to the All-Sufficiency of Almighty God. Specify the type of church community experience you would like them to enjoy. Pray for those who are right now in the process of theological training who will one day serve as pastors of those churches. Pray for the countries where your descendants will live and the communities where they will make their homes. Look to the future, even beyond this life you live on earth, and trust that future to the promises of God.

Creative Zooming

This week I had the privilege of being invited into Sam’s Club. It had nothing to do with groceries. Every Monday night Mark Telloyan in Indiana and John Telloyan in Japan zoom with their father Sam Telloyan in Michigan. They call it Sam’s Club. And they include in the meeting someone Sam knew from his many years at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College. This week that person was me. We talked about people we knew, places we have been, and ministries we have enjoyed. We talked about the Lord and the privilege it has been to serve Him these many years. Sam looks great, if somewhat older. But then, aren’t we all? Mark is a judge in Indiana. John works with a church in Japan. And Sam is involved in the church in Michigan where his son-in-law Tim VanLoh serves on the pastoral staff. What a great gift Mark and John are giving to their father each week. And what a great reminder of the fellowship we will share for all eternity at the meeting in the air. We won’t even need Zoom.
